Residence 53: A Testament to Timeless Architecture

Aman Aggarwal's Design Redefines Luxury in Residential Villas

The inspiration behind Residence 53 is the aspiration to create timeless architecture that not only appeals visually but is also responsive to climate and elements of nature. Aggarwal sought to find a sutra of continuity that could bind our rich and glorious past with the future. The architecture is conceived as a sculptural composition defined by a few powerful strokes, resulting in simple and bold built forms.

What sets Residence 53 apart is its minimalist character contrasted with luxurious interiors. The strong geometry and bare walls characterize the overall space, providing a base enriched by wooden screens and plush furniture. The design is a testament to the concept of transcending spaces and redefining courtyards.

The realization of Residence 53 was a labor-intensive process, given India's labor-intensive nature. The entire project was cast-in-situ, with no modern technology used. All the extensive and minute details were taken care of at the site itself.

The project, which started in April 2013 in Panchkula, India, and finished in April 2016, faced several challenges. These included making the project Vaastu compliant, adhering to the Haryana construction By-laws, and planning a home for a multi-generation family. Despite these challenges, the project won the winner prize for the category: Interior Design-Residential Villa/Bunglow at Architecture Ideas 2.0.

Residence 53 was also awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017. The Silver A' Design Award is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
